Bienvenidos!

The Spanish program emphasizes eight goals. These goals will be grade level appropriate.

Goals:
Students will develop the ability to:

  1. Greet and respond to a greeting;

  2. Introduce and respond to introductions;

  3. Engage in conversations;

  4. Express likes and dislikes;

  5. Make requests;

  6. Obtain information;

  7. Understand some ideas and familiar details;

  8. Begin to provide information.

Students will be able to perform these functions:

  1. When speaking, in face to face interactions;

  2. When listening and in social interactions;

  3. When reading, using authentic materials

  4. (e.g. menus, posters, charts and signs);

  5. When writing notes, lists, and short letters or stories.

Students will be able to:

  1. Use short sentences, use learned words and phrases, and use simple questions and commands when speaking and writing:

  2. Understand some ideas and familiar details presented in clear, uncomplicated speech when listening;

  3. Understand short texts enhanced by visual clues when reading.
